Days 87 & 88: South Missouri

After a quick dip into northern Oklahoma (just to check it off our list) we spent a couple of days touring museums and historical sites, and celebrating Independence Day in southern Missouri. The highlight of our time here was our visit to the George Washington Carver National Monument. I'd known a bit about Professor Carver's accomplishments, but had no idea of the adversity he overcame in his younger years, having been born a slave. A really remarkable story.
