Days 121 & 122: Michigan

Updated: Aug 26, 2018

This is our last day in the USA. In the last four months, we've visited and publicized our book in all 48 contiguous states. Time has just flown by and we’re sad that our trip is ending. It has been an amazing experience. In the 31 years we’ve been married, Rosie and I have never spent this amount of time together, but it’s been absolutely wonderful. Initially, we were both concerned that we might drive each other nuts in the small space we had to share, but that has not been the case at all; we’re thoroughly enjoying each other’s company and have actually grown closer than we ever have been before. If it weren’t for missing family and friends, we could keep doing this forever. But, alas, all good things must end, so we plan to cross the border tomorrow. We’ll camp one more day in Canada, and then we should be home in Waterloo. The one thing we won’t miss is the severe weather in the Midwest. We’ve heard three tornado sirens today, and the wind brought down a tree about 40 yards from our camper a couple of hours ago. Never the less, it has been the experience of a lifetime and we would do it again in a second.
