Day 94: North Dakota

Our eventful day started around 5:00 a.m. in Summit, South Dakota with the sound of hail pounding on the roof of our trailer. The one inch diameter ice bombs left around a dozen dents in the roof and hood of our truck. After licking our wounds and taking insurance photos, we noticed that our radar weather app was showing an even bigger severe storm cell heading in our direction. We took shelter in the camp washroom. Thankfully, the storm dissipated before it hit us - turning from purple to yellow on the radar map – a regular lightning storm that gave our truck and trailer a badly needed wash. We then drove north and camped on the grounds of the Red River Valley Fair in Fargo, North Dakota, where we spent most of our day attending various agricultural shows and wishing we were farmers. Dinner was a bucket of garlic cheese curds - the local delicacy.
