Day 85: Wichita, KS

We started the day by attending a special July 4th service at the Central Community Church in Wichita, KS (http://centralcommunity.church/). It was amazing! You know church is going to be different when you see a discreet sign at the entrance that reads, "We prefer open carry to conceal." The guest speaker was Brigadier General Michael Scholes, a fascinating Christian guy with a storied life and family history. American administrations sometimes makes mistakes when it comes to foreign policy, but it's good to know that there are men like General Scholes in power, who at least have the right motives - who hold true to their Christian values and do their best to be a positive influence on the world. We've met a lot of veterans in our travels with the same kind of hearts. We're finishing the day at the home of our Mennonite Your Way hosts, Pastor Kurt and Elaine Horst. After a brief chat, they left for some business at church and trusted us with their home. Like I said, really great people out here.
